PeerStorage began operating in 2020 after someone reached out to our founder for help with storing some items in his extra bedroom. Due to the pandemic, they needed a cheaper self-storage solution for their stuff that was currently sitting in a self-storage facility.
That’s how PeerStorage came to be. We’re on a mission to increase self-storage space in an environmentally friendly manner without developing new facilities while continuing to help our local communities grow economically. Some people have too much space, and others do not have enough. PeerStorage is here to make the connection!
The Self-Storage Problem & the PeerStorage Solution
In the United States alone, the amount of rentable self-storage space covers 1.9 billion square feet of land, which accounts for over 49,000 storage facilities nationwide, as reported by the U.S. Self-Storage Industry Statistics Report from SpareFoot in January 2021. Unfortunately, these self-storage spaces are rented out by large companies that offer expensive, inconvenient options, and they are increasingly turning away new customers due to high demand and, surprisingly, low availability.
To combat these enormous and continuously growing statistics, a more efficient storage solution was in dire need of development.
Our goal at PeerStorage is to provide a marketplace to connect customers to nearby neighborhoods with unused space in a new and exciting way. We give customers seeking self-storage an affordable option for storing their belongings while allowing neighbors the opportunity to generate cash flow from their unused space. PeerStorage is the most convenient, cost-effective, and environmentally friendly self-storage option for anyone who just needs a little extra room.
